If you can not afford a Canon EX flash unit, you can try Sunpak 383 Auto. I am with my Sony V1. It's only $ 80 However, it is with E-TTL compatible. You need to define itself as a constant f/4.0 aperture and 1 / 60 seconds in manual mode. The flash automatically with the correct amount of light.
